Sense of heaviness in the anus - Causes and Symptoms

Definition

The sense of heaviness in the anal region is a symptom frequently associated with hemorrhoids (dilated veins of the hemorrhoidal plexus in the lower rectum).

The symptoms of this condition (heaviness, pain, burning and anal itching) are typically accentuated after defecation, especially in the presence of constipation with elimination of hard stools. Bleeding, on the other hand, appears in a more advanced stage of the hemorrhoidal disease.

Also the presence of a colorectal cancer can cause obstruction phenomena, with sense of anal weight, meteorism, alterations of the alvus (constipation, diarrhea, alternation of constipation-diarrhea) and weight loss.
