Karaya gum is a natural polysaccharide obtained from the bark of the tree Sterculia Urens, typical of India.
It is a compound with a thickening, stabilizing and emulsifying function.
It can be contained in various products, such as cereal-based foods and potatoes, egg liqueurs, sauces.
At the concentrations normally consumed, no negative side effects are known, while at high concentrations, karaja gum may cause flatulence, swelling, diarrhea, digestive disorders, poor assimilation of minerals, respiratory allergies such as asthma (especially in sensitive subjects) and hives .
