Fitness, health, lifestyle and prevention

Edited by Emilio Troiano

One of the widespread ills of modern society is represented, paradoxically, by the well-being observed in its most negative sense: a sedentary lifestyle .

In support of this statement we can see how the main cardiovascular and metabolic diseases of the last 50 years, with the exception of cases with demonstrable genetic traceability, are the result of sedentary and incorrect lifestyles, identifiable beyond latitudes, but particularly evident in rich societies like Our.

From recent statistical research but also simply thanks to our personal experience, we can see how the question about why physical activity is not asked by the respondent, often directly proportional to the increasing chronological age, that there is a lack of time : well, this answer often in reality masks a lack of motivation.

Our ancestors, whose memories we carry at the genomic level, have been, for reasons of survival, true forerunners of modern athletes. Common activities like running, climbing, throwing, swimming, once vital for survival, are nowadays adequately related to the evolution of the species and contextualized to modern society. Not by chance some widespread pathologies that afflict our society as type 2 diabetes, heart attack, stroke, obesity, hypertension etc. they did not spread in the past years and today do not develop in less industrialized societies, contrary to what happens instead in Nostra, where cardio-vascular and metabolic accidents, with their systemic consequences, take the lives of thousands of people every year.

And then, technological and scientific innovations (especially in the field of medicine) are welcome, but let us not be overwhelmed by well-being; Fitness is our weapon to fight sedentariness and all its consequences, even inauspicious. The word Fitness more than a specific sport is a condition of well-being (this time according to a positive meaning) linked to an active and healthy lifestyle (also at a food level). For a series of interests (often economic), in the last few years the world of Fitness has gone exponentially upwards, but to make a correct use avoiding an improper one, its role and its importance must be clear to everyone. In fact, practiced with the right knowledge of the facts, Fitness is an excellent way to prevent multiple diseases, certainly a healthier way than taking various pills heavily advertised by the industries. Unlike the latest generation of synthetic biotechnological preparations, there are no prescriptive limits, if not common sense, and with the right precautions indicated by professionals in the sector, everyone can do physical activity (after a medical examination): movement is good for the young like the elderly, the beginner as well as the athlete, movement is virtue (just think of how many sports teams are called Virtus) . Fortunately the trend is changing and more and more doctors and physiotherapists advise physical activity in the combined treatment of various diseases, from cardio-circulatory to metabolic ones , not to mention the musculoskeletal ones , entrusting the professionalism of the PERSONAL TRAINER with the achievement of specific results . It should be noted that the physical-sporting activity has a fundamental biochemical-hormonal anti-stress and anti-depressive action with
endorphinic production and its serotoninergic action, which help to combat negative situations in everyone's life.

Normally those who do sports, to achieve competitive or merely aesthetic results, combining them with adequate nutrition, can achieve and maintain results for a long time.

Ultimately, to defeat sedentarism and all its consequences, a greater awareness of the validity of the practice of fitness and the correct way of doing fitness based on one's abilities and potential is of fundamental importance .

Are we really sure we don't want to invest some of our time in ourselves and in our health ?!
