Amblyopia: how to recognize the lazy eye

Amblyopia can be reversible if diagnosed and treated since early childhood. Otherwise, it can lead to a permanent visual impairment and affect the child's normal psycho-physical development. It can be difficult for a parent to realize that one of their child's eyes has a problem, as it might seem apparently normal.

For this reason, periodic vision checks are recommended during the first 5-6 years of age, in particular if the child presents risk factors (eg, family history, pregnancy diseases, strabismus and congenital cataract) or in the case of which particular eye anomalies are observed.
