Further indications

The symptoms of indigestion are known to most people and generally resolve positively within a few hours. However, when they last for several days or weeks, it is a good rule to contact your GP. If the symptoms of gastritis arise after taking certain medicines, such as aspirin or other oral anti-inflammatories, it is good to promptly report it to your doctor. It is equally important to contact health personnel as soon as possible if you notice traces of blood in the vomit and in the faeces (when the bleeding has gastric origins, the feces are particularly dark and tarry).
