Directions LOCETAR ® Amorolfine

LOCETAR ® is indicated for the treatment of onychomycosis caused by yeasts, molds and dermatophytes sensitive to Amorolfine.

Mechanism of action LOCETAR ® Amorolfine

LOCETAR ® is a recently introduced drug based on amorolfine, an active ingredient with a significant fungicidal and fungistatic activity determined by impairment of the normal structure of the plasma membrane.

Applied topically, Amorolfine easily penetrates the plasma membrane concentrating at the cytoplasmic level where it inhibits various enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of Ergosterol, a key sterol for the maintenance of the structural and functional organization of the fungal membrane, whose absence induces a serious alteration of the vital abilities of the dermatophyte.

The reduced capacity of exchange on the one hand and the accumulation of toxic catabolites seriously compromise both the replicative capacity of the fungus and the normal vitality, thus guaranteeing a prompt improvement of the symptomatology.
