Improve the absorption of Curcumin

In addition to the association with piperine, other promising approaches to increase the bioavailability of curcumin in humans have been developed. These include the use of nanoparticles, the formulation of liposomes and phospholipid complexes, and the development of structural analogues.

Meriva is a patented phytosome in which curcumin is complexed with soy phosphatidylcholine; this association has shown significant increases in the bioavailability of both curcumin and, above all, of other curcuminoids.

It is interesting to note that the bioavailability of curcumin has proven to be better when it is associated with some non-curcuminoid components present in turmeric. This underlines, once again, the importance of the phytocomplex in phytotherapy.
